Pioneer Trivia:

Who originated the BHS team name?

It was Sidney Pickens, a Superintendent of Batesville Schools, who was widely known in educational circles
in Arkansas and a past President of the State Teachers Association, who came up with the team name "Pioneers"
and originated the slogan: "A Pioneer Never Quits!"

Who could be heard to sing the words to "Sail Along, Silvery Moon" every morning in the BHS hallways?

It was Mr. Duane Huddleston, BHS Principal.

What are two famous quotes about history?

"That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach." (Aldous Huxley)

"Study your books!" (Graham Ferrill)
